Spring has sprung, and with it, a new version of Android. Well, kind of. Google has recently released a developer preview build of Android O, the next iteration of Android that is designed to improve upon its predecessor in all aspects. Even though there still is a lot of time until Google will actually release Android O to the public as a full product, as it is supposed to be released somewhere in the third quarter of 2017, there are certain distinguishable features that already define it.
WHATS NEW IN THE ANDROID 0RE0?
Minimalist design
There are not many visual changes in the latest upcoming Android version right now being called "Android 0", but google has worked on increasing the adapting capacity of its icons. The icons will be refereed as "ADAPTIVE ICONS". This major was taken due to the descaling of icons in older versions of android in some devices.
Looks aren’t everything
Apart from looks google has added a feature of split screen in the upcoming 0S. Now users will be able to split screens into two and continue to do other work while live streaming or watching YouTube videos and chatting with friends on the Facebook along side. This will be a major relief for content creators and a easy way to multi-task without having much issues.
Hidden Modifications
Google this time has worked on the battery consumption also, this time Android 0 is supposed to consume less battery in doze mode which in the marsh mallow and nougat consumed more battery. This also will result into increase in the speed and performance of 0S. The developer preview had twice benchmark scores than the previous versions.
Another unseen change is better autofill support, which will lead to more accurate and effortless password management because users will now be able to choose their preferred password and data management app which will work with autofill.
Sound and more
Sound in this version is extensively improved as Android O features a built-in high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs, along with Sony’s LDAC technology which will allow hi-res audio playback over Bluetooth. This will be a major plus point keeping in mind the move of Apple,removing the headphone jack, which has inclined people to use Bluetooth headphones. This might turn some i-phone users to android.
How to get it
Well if you are to eager and cannot wait then you should try the developer preview if its available for your device. If not then wait for a OTA update.
